Outreach Coordinator, Older Adults

Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre at Syd Glow Place promotes the physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being of older adults thereby promoting independent living and participation in community life. We are a non-profit senior’s centre providing a social meeting place and quality programs to our members and the community at large.

Gwen Secter Creative Centre is committed to developing programming to enhance the lives and socialization of adults 55+. Major program areas include lunch programs, exercise programs, culturally relevant intergenerational programming with a strong focus on visual and performing arts.

The outreach coordinator for older adults works proactively with new and existing community members offering a range of community programs and services. The outreach coordinator is a relationship-builder that connects seniors with programs and services in a non-judgemental and culturally appropriate manner with a focus on inclusion and reducing isolation among seniors.

This position reports to the Executive Director.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recruit and train volunteers as peer connectors
- Identify isolated/ less connected seniors
- Identify community needs to meet the needs of the seniors
- Develop programming to fill the gaps and keep seniors engaged
- Continue established programs such as phone check-in and conversations, medical transportation, iPad lending program and mobile library
- Establish and maintain relationships with seniors and families
- Be accountable for administrative duties and reports
- To uphold and promote community values
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- To complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
- Knowledge of current technology and programs
- Ability to carry, lift and complete program set ups
- **Knowledge of Jewish culture is an asset**:

- Second and third languages are an asset
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- 2-5 years related experience
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Salary**: $35,000.00-$42,000.00 per year
