**WHAT YOU’LL DO**:
As the first line of contact in the department, the Outpatient Clerk is responsible to provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to the clinic by supporting clinicians, patients and families, coordinating clinic activities, booking/managing patient appointments, processing paper and electronic files.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING**:

- Successful completion of a Medical Office Support Staff Certification, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

**WHO YOU ARE**:

- Demonstrated basic knowledge of the Microsoft office suite and good computer skills. This means that the individual’s computer skills reflect core knowledge of functions required most often when using required software and hardware.
- Demonstrated customer focused/driven attitude and positive customer philosophy
- Accurate keyboarding skills (40 wpm)
- Able to use standard office equipment including a computer, laser printer, label printer, fax machine, multifunction photocopier, calculator, and telephone. (Option to add other department specific equipment to the list)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and follow current privacy regulations.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, with patients/families, staff and physicians and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and use good judgement when making decisions
- Demonstrated good team work skills and ability to work collaboratively and promote a positive attitude within the team
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision and accuracy with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated patience and flexibility to support multiple client demands
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting an inclusive, non-judgmental workplace, welcoming all people of all backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task when facing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to remain calm during emergency situations and carefully follow code procedures
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to respond competently to urgent/crisis situations
- Experience with Epic would be an asset
