**Schedule**:Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

**Position Overview**

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Assistant to provide specialized 1:1 support for a teenage student with complex needs including ADHD, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and severe behavioral concerns. This position requires a compassionate professional who can create a safe, supportive learning environment while implementing behavioral strategies and academic accommodations.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Direct Student Support**:Provide continuous 1:1 assistance throughout the school day
- **Behavioral Management**:Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and de-escalation techniques
- **Academic Support**:Assist with learning accommodations, modified assignments, and classroom participation
- **Safety Monitoring**:Ensure student and classroom safety through proactive supervision and intervention
- **Communication**:Maintain regular communication with teachers, support team, and family
- **Documentation**:Complete daily reports, incident documentation, and progress tracking
- **Transition Support**:Assist with transitions between classes, activities, and environments

**Required Qualifications**
- **Education**:High school diploma minimum; post-secondary education in related field preferred
- **Experience**:Previous experience working with youth with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges preferred, but any relevant experience may be considered
- **Specialized Knowledge**:Understanding of ADHD, FASD, and trauma-informed care principles
- **Training**:Crisis intervention and de-escalation training **(or willingness to obtain)**:

- **Clearances**:Current criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and child abuse registry check
- **Physical Requirements**:Ability to physically intervene safely when necessary

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Educational Assistant certification or any related experience may be considered
- Experience in school-based settings
- Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support strategies
- Experience with sensory regulation techniques
- Understanding of adolescent development
