**About us**

L'Arche welcome Assistants to live, work, and learn together with men and women with intellectual disabilities in our communities. L'Arche strives to shape a more human and just society by offering people of different abilities a life changing experience of companionship, community, and belonging.

**These are casual positions. Shifts are scheduled as needed.**

**Major responsibilities**:

- Ensures that the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, recreational, health and safety needs of the Members with disabilities are met
- Encourages and supports Members with disabilities in the skills and gifts needed to
promote their personal growth and to contribute actively to their home life, L’Arche
community and neighbourhood.
- Responds to each Member with disabilities’ individual needs by respectfully supporting them with their personal hygiene, care, dress and eating, etc., as needed, in a manner that enhances their dignity and appropriate appearance.
- Supports and accompanies Members with disabilities to access their leisure, social, practical and spiritual resources
- Actively shares with other team members in daily housekeeping chores to ensure that the home is safe, clean, well-managed and welcoming to all. This includes cleaning, shopping, cooking, driving, laundry, gardening, minor repairs, outside and vehicle maintenance, etc.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certificate/Diploma in Disability Studies, or Community Support Worker, or equivalent
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to facilitate programs and activities for people with developmental disabilities
- Meal preparation and housekeeping experience

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $15.00-$17.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Night shift
- On call
