The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the accounting /accounts payable is responsible for performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks with an emphasis on receiving, verifying and processing invoices in accordance with school policies.

Key Responsibilities
- Verify proper authorization of cost invoice processing
- Prepare payments for signature
- Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices
- Maintain vendor file
- Maintain projects file
- Analyze accounts for miscoded transactions and do correcting entries in preparation of monthly budget reporting
- Purchase orders issuing, tracking and matching
- Petty cash management: disbursements & validation
- Process collection/payments received from various origins
- Prepare cash deposits for the bank and pick up money requests/bank drafts
- Coordinate the credit card accounts
- Prepare journal entries
- Run monthly accounts payable aging report
- Assist with the preparation of the bank reconciliations and analyses
- Assist in month-end closing of accounts: invoicing & collection
- Collaborate with the Student Activity Coordinator for school trips invoicing and collection

Other
- Prepare custom statements and reports as requested
- Assist with the registration process at school opening
- Collect details of expenses for the Bill 90 reporting
- Maintain proper filing system
- Building Association accounting
- Provide support for year-end external audit process
- GST & PST reporting for BCS Building Association
- Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Finance

Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting/business administration
- Minimum 1 year in a similar function
- Basic accounting skills
- Superior organizational skills, ability to multi-task with an eye for detail
- High level of integrity
- Analytical thinker with initiative and problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
