Support / Host Staff

Ithaka Greek Restaurant is hiring Support/Host Staff to join our incredible team:
Established in 2013, Ithaka Greek Restaurant is an authentic, Greek family-owned business that celebrates culinary and Greek cultural traditions through authentic, healthy and lovingly-prepared delicious Greek food. We are a busy restaurant, operating Monday to Saturday (Monday to Sunday from May to September), 4:30-9:00pm. Ithaka is a fast paced, fun, social environment with a focus on the guest experience and teamwork. We take pride in the hospitality experience we provide to our guests and we treat our colleagues with the utmost respect and welcome them to our working family. We foster a positive, healthy work environment and celebrate every team member’s contribution for the overall success of the operation. - Please note we do not allow acrylic/gel nails as it goes against Island Health protocol

Your Responsibilities (Support/Food Runner):

- Learning table numbers
- Prepare dining room for patrons by cleaning tables, setting table flowers, candles, service plates, and utensils/napkins
- Greeting guests at table, getting guests set up with water service, replacing burnt out candles
- Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils as required; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs
- Support wait staff by setting-up, running food from kitchen to table when asked, clearing plates & cutlery from guests who are finished eating/drinking
- Clearing tables of guests who have departed and cleaning tables promptly so table turnover time is quick
- Be able to maintain high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and organization, guaranteeing food is quickly and correctly delivered to tables and ensuring the dining room and service areas are clean, stocked and visually appealing
- To provide a high level of guest satisfaction by providing efficient and friendly service
- Positively engaging with customers in a kind, warm and inviting manner
- Understanding the flow of service and anticipating what you can do to enhance the customer experience
- To project a pleasant and positive image of our restaurant to all guests
- To communicate effectively with managers and team members using appropriate etiquette
- Effectively communicating guest needs to the corresponding server
- Always be alert
- Eye contact with the server you are supporting, the manager and other servers
- To comply with restaurant policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

Your Responsibilities (Host):

- Greet guests with a warm and welcoming demeanor
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus
- Manage the floorplan
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservations
- Collaborate with Manager, servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation
- Assist with any other tasks as needed

Qualifications:

- Hospitality: 1 year (Preferred but not necessary)
- Customer service: 1 year (Preferred but not necessary)
- The ability to legally work in Canada

$17.85/hour plus gratuities which are paid out bi-weekly. Tips in addition to the hourly wage.
