Compensation and Benefits Specialist

Andy Transport is looking for a Compensation & Benefits Administrator to join our growing Human Resources department.
This position will be responsible for managing and processing the company’s payroll benefit programs. You will be the one to calculate wages based on hours worked and administer payments. Your work will be of utmost importance since the correct processing and distribution of payroll and benefits is vital for employee retention and satisfaction. Confidentiality and efficiency are very important qualities for this position.
The goal is to ensure all payroll and benefit programs are managed properly to maintain and enhance employee satisfaction.
**Responsibilities**:
- Gather information on hours worked for each employee
- Process and commit all bi-weekly payroll run, using payroll system (Ceridian)
- Keep track of hour rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information etc.
- Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and management
- Prepare reports for upper management, finance department etc.
- Process all year-end for employee T4’s
- Design benefit programs (insurance, wellness etc.)
- Evaluate and negotiate with service providers (e.g., private insurance company)
- Assume responsibility of timely payment of monthly premiums
- Manage enrollments and determine employee eligibility
- Handle all benefit compensation and reimbursement procedures
- Coordinate leaves of absence and process claims or requests (medical, worker’s compensation etc.)
- Keep updated employee records with all relevant information (marital status, years of service, hours worked etc.)
- Inform employees of their benefit options and plans and monitor use
- Collaborate with accounting department for payments and deductions
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as payroll and benefits specialist or payroll administrator
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
- Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software (Ceridian)
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Understanding of data recording and analysis
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
- Excellent bilingual (French & English) communication skills
- Solid understanding of different benefit plans (retirement, health & dental insurance etc.) and relevant regulations
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- A minimum of two years in payroll management management experience
