**Position Summary**
The Cultural Liaison plays a key role in supporting the success, well-being, and cultural connection of Indigenous students within the high school by serving as a bridge between Indigenous students, their families, school staff, and the broader community.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities**
- promoting Indigenous knowledge, culture and perspectives within the school environment
- coordinating and leading culturally relevant programming, events and activities such as traditional ceremonies, language workshops and guest speakers
- working with teachers to incorporate Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum
- connecting with Elders, Knowledge Keepers and local Indigenous communities to facilitate opportunities for students
- serving as liaison between the school, Indigenous families and broader Indigenous community
- supporting school staff with learning about Indigenous history, traditions and current issues through professional development
- assisting with conflict resolution, crisis intervention and restorative practices
- promoting mental health and well-being of Indigenous students through culturally appropriate supports

**Education/Qualifications**
- high school diploma plus a two-year post secondary program
- a minimum of three years of related experience preferably in an educational or social services environment
- strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, traditions and current issues affecting Indigenous peoples
- strong sense of cultural identity
- excellent communication and relationship building skills

**Rate of Pay**
$33.78 - $43.05 per hour
**Nature of Work**
