Fontaine Site Services is looking for a full time experienced **civil estimator** to join our team. We pride ourselves in offering the best earthworks and civil works services to our clients, while maintaining a safe and friendly work environment to our employees.

The **Civil Estimator** is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. This individual's accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business.

**Responsibilities**:

- Reviews tender documents, specifications, drawings, and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and effort for estimating.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates.
- Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.
- Prepares take-offs and calculates material quantities as required.
- Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts
- Obtain competitive material & equipment prices for all tenders / pursuits, specific to each opportunity
- Attend Pre-tender site visits / meetings in order to fully understand the scope of the tender / project
- Follows awarded contracts as assigned to assist with extra work items, change orders, or re-pricing due to design changes.
- Develop complete estimates for tender submissions on small, medium and large heavy civil construction projects
- Cultivate and maintain solid, long-term relationships with customers
- Manage project performance to meet schedule, budget, and contract specifications
- Provide support for our field teams as necessary

**Requirements**:

- At least 3 years of experience.
- Experience with estimating and **on the ground preferred**:

- Able to read and interpret blueprints, building specifications, schematics and as-builts.
- Mathematical and analytical skills necessary for development of material and labour estimates.
- Proficient with Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD
- Good understanding of current market conditions and competitors within our marketplace
- Applicants must have a solid understanding of earthworks and and civil work procedures, MMCD and heavy civil construction practices
- Knowledge of common contract conditions, soil conditions, and risks associated with civil projects
- Organization, detail oriented and could handle multiple estimates at once
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal, relationship and organizational management skills.
- Valid Driver’s License Required as site visits may be required.
- Post secondary education with a degree in construction management, civil or structural engineering preferred

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $72,800.00-$93,600.00 per year
