Passenger Assessment System Specialist

The Passenger Assessment System Specialist is responsible for identifying and inhibiting potential security risk passengers and known disruptive passengers from boarding our aircrafts as directed by several governmental agencies and Corporate Security Managers.

This position is responsible to ensure compliance with regulations by effectively communicating with Government Agencies and actioning any requests to deny boarding of a passenger deemed a threat to civil aviation and the safety and security of our aircrafts, our passengers, and our employees minimizing any financial losses (fines).

The incumbent holding this position provides support of a specialized nature to both internal and external customers directly related to how the watch list processes impact the customer.

**Key Functions**:

- Provide operational passenger security support to Air Canada by managing internal and external 'Watch List'.
- Provide immediate resolution to all requests for information received by the Operations Security Centre (OSC). on a 24/7 basis.
- Ensure effective identification and actioning of passenger records to prevent or allow boarding of certain individuals in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely information to the Corporate Security Managers.
- Manage the Passenger Assessment System databases.
- Comply with government watch list procedure and manage accordingly.
- Identify perfect name matches using the Security Systems and action promptly as required.
- Handle passengers requiring Air Canada Security intervention such as escorts and deportees;
- Provide operational guidance to the Airport Agents to ensure that all procedures are well understood and respected.
- Develop required processes for efficient and effective implementation of regulatory and security requirements.
- Assess immigration cases as per policies.
- Assess requests from peace officers to carry their firearms in the cabin.
- Prepare detailed and accurate forms following a call received from government agencies and airport colleagues.
- Provide training and support to the new hires.
- Provide administrative support to the Sr Director and Managers.
- Manage and documents all PAS procedures and ensure all team members are aware of and understands any modifications.
- Identify system requirements / enhancements and participates in user acceptance testing of Security systems.
- Be prepared to provide additional support to the collective team when operational tempo and circumstance dictate.

**Qualifications**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word,
- Knowledge of Altea Reservation Desktop and Amadeus Customer Management systems is an asset,
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high degree of diplomacy, maturity, and discretion
- Excellent multitasker and able to make decisions quickly
- Ability to work without supervision, has good judgment and manage own time
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Attention to details and strong problem-solving skills
- Must be fully bilingual in French and English
- Strong written skills both French and English
- Strong sense of confidentiality
- Must be available to work flexible shifts 24/7 schedule coverage
- Must be willing to support the team during occasional system outages and emergencies out of business hours when required
