SYNQ is looking for an bookkeeper to join their growing team

Overview:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Bookkeeper would be responsible for full cycle bookkeeping including AR, AP, bank, and credit card reconciliations; completing specific finance tasks to ensure the department meets its deadlines and executes its deliverables in an efficient and timely manner. This position is for someone who likes a fast-paced, dynamic working environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Full cycle bookkeeping including AR, AP, bank, and credit card reconciliations
- Matching receipts to credit card statements and identifying missing items
- Filing all paperwork in a logical, audit-able manner
- Invoicing our customers and collection of AR
- Preparing month end reports including self audit
- Participating in audits or request for information from government authorities
- Preparing the year end reports
- Preparing all tax remittances including GST and PST across the country
- Preparing WCB remittances and reports for multiple jurisdictions
- Recommending, implementing, and documenting actions to improve data gathering, collection and reporting.
- Assist with payroll, employee new hire/onboarding documentation and benefit administration.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in finance, accounts payable, or equivalent combination of education and experience - required.
- Post-secondary Accounting education - an asset but not required.
- Proficiency with Quickbooks Online strongly preferred.
- Experience w/ Hubdocs or other receipt capture software.
- Experience with inventory and purchase order systems - an asset.
- Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Manage themselves in a productive manner.
- Be a motivated and enthusiastic team contributor.

Company overview:
This is a full-time position based in Victoria, BC. There will be the opportunity to work remotely some of the time once the 3 month probationary period is up. Due to Covid, we have measures in place to provide safe office spaces specifically for accounting since we are currently transitioning from a paper-based system to an online system.
