**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:The HomeCare Connect Job Placement Specialist will work collaboratively with the project’s team to develop successful relationships with employers to secure supportive and successful placement opportunities. They will accompany and support participants to their employer meetings and arrange job trials, and job shadowing opportunities. The
Placement Specialist will work collaboratively with the participant; employer and job coach to develop a training and mentoring plan to support the successful transition from pre-employment training to the workplace. The Job Placement Specialist will negotiate the placement agreement with the employer, and efficiently process invoices and payments. The position establishes and maintains a strong relationship with the job seeker throughout the job finding and start-up phases of employment. This position reports to Coordinator, HomeCare Connect and is part of **CUPE Local 2289**.
**MAJOR DUTIES**:
- Conduct outreach to employers to encourage participation in the project
- Reach out to home-care employers to secure their involvement the project’s employer advisory council, seek their input into the design of the project and shares this input with the project’s team for implementation
- Document a clear rationale to support the participants accessing job placements and job retention services in accordance with TNG decision model
- Act as a spokesperson and champion for participants’ experiences and abilities with employers
- Place and match participants who are unlikely to succeed in conducting their own job search according to their skills, interests and vocational goals
- Facilitate work opportunities and negotiate employment relationships for participants including placement agreements and contracts that include training objectives, commitments and financial incentives. Administer contract with employers including the timely processing and payment of financial incentives if required.
- Ensure that participating employers meet program eligibility criteria, and conduct at least one site visit per employer prior to placement to confirm suitability and a safe work environment
- Ensure employer workplaces and practices are in compliance with applicable Health and Safety and ESA legislation
- Support the project’s Job Coaches conduct regular monitors to identify and resolve workplace issues to enhance the likelihood of a successful transition to employment and placement success
- Work with the project’s Job Coaches develop and monitor support plans with the employer and the participant including developing mentoring support
**REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Disability Studies, Career Counselling, Business Management, Marketing, Social
Work, Human Resources or related, and two years’ experience in job developing, job coaching, or combined equivalent of education and experience
- Two years’ demonstrated and recent experience and strength in employment/career counselling, job coaching/mentoring, case management, job development and workshop facilitation with individuals facing complex barriers to employment
- Creativity and passion for working with individuals from various socio-economic and diverse backgrounds and assisting them in finding the help they need
- Ability to achieve program goals/targets including planning ahead for contingencies and identifying solutions to problems to ensure best results
- Proven computer skills in MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS Office, and DocuSign, along with strong ability to use online database systems. Experience with CaMS an asset.
- Persuasive verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
- Skilled in developing audience-geared employment related, life skills and career advancement curriculum coupled with strong facilitation skills
- Knowledge and understanding of labour market trends, coaching and mentoring approaches to support job seekers that are distant from the labour market
