- 2 (Hammersmith duties) to join the team**_

**Please note**:This position requires shift rotation
- days/afternoons. This a unionized hourly position. Employees in this position receive an additional $1 per hour while running a hammer in the Forge.

**Primary Function**:
To set up and operate equipment safely and efficiently in the forge department as directed.

**Job Duties**
- Set up & run drop hammers, auto forge hammers, heat treat, bulldozer, bar shear, plate shear, hot/cold presses, upsetters and other machines & operations as required&instructed**.**:

- Receives job instructions and job identification for above machines.
- Selects tools, jigs and fixtures for job to be run. Sets up to specifications & proof.
- Use material handling equipment to obtain materials, tools, parts and containers within department and locates near work center.
- Verify all components necessary to complete jobs are available.
- Sets up machine’s, to operate for self or others; monitors and makes adjustments to tools and machinery as required during production run.
- Approves set-up for production.
- Instructs machine operators in all job and safety procedures, processes as required.
- Checks machine for unsafe conditions and reports any maintenance or safety issues.
- Submits all special or unusual items to Supervisor prior to approving first offs.
- Operates machines on production per work order as required.
- Reports/records time and production quantities as required into the shop floor business system.
- Perform all functions of a Set Up & Operate 1 in the Forge department.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Must have experience as a Hammersmith
- Minimum 3 years experience.
- Conscientious about workplace health and safety.
- Must be able to perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, reaching and grasping.
- Must be able to lift and move loads of up to 50 lb.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
