The Edmonton office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking an **Associate Principal** for our **Electrical** Department, qualified in project engineering of building services.

**What You'll Do**:
**Business Planning & Development**
- Demonstrates a key role in developing and sustaining the vision of the partnership.
- Actively and visibly plays a role in setting, goals, long term planning, developing vision etc.
- Shows initiative to holistically assess approach to business with the thought of improving practices.
- Actively and visibly participates in the operation of the business and demonstrates a clear intent that the profitability (inclusive of efficiency, promotion, marketability, brand etc.) is of paramount importance.
- Actively and visibly promotes ‘all’ disciplines and services.
- Actively takes part in managing the operation of the firm including attending Operations meetings, Shareholder meetings (when required) and Summit events. This involvement includes both non-technical and technical (e.g. quality control and standards).
- Demonstrates interest in leading the firm into new areas, markets, technologies, etc.
- Attends ‘most’ industry functions (architects, designers, owners and developers) to achieve being a well-recognized member of the community.
- Actively involved in marketing, promotion, and ad sales including liaison with clients, preparation of fee proposals, fee negotiations, and review of contracts.

**Project Management**
- Actively involved in project management, including overseeing profitability of all projects, project manager assignments, defining person-hours, and contract for project managers, reviewing and approving work, and coordinating staffing.
- Responsible for understanding, following, and ensuring compliance with quality control projects.
- Review projects ensuring Professional Engineer, ‘stamp and seal’ documentation is in accordance with the local professional engineering association.

**Leadership/ People Management**
- Considered as a leader in the office and outside the office.

**Who You Are**:

- Possess minimum 10 years of project engineering experience in the field of Electrical building services.
- P. Eng. license or a professional designation in Alberta is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently as well as direct a team of engineers and designers.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
- Possess excellent communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
- Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
