Administrative Assistant/sample Reception Technician

**Education Required**:High School

**Responsibilities**:
The following responsibilities may include some or all of the following or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the department manager:

- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for damage
- Verify all incoming client samples against the Request for Analysis and advise client of any discrepancies
- Read the Request for Analysis form to identify presence of any hazardous materials and indicate the special instructions
- Handle soil and rock samples i.e. environmental, water, radioactive, high-risk, unprepped in accordance with the quality operating procedures
- Create new orders on the Support Site
- Document any additional information pertaining to the order
- Confirm that the order was setup correctly based on the Request for Analysis Form
- Send samples to the Sample Preparation Department once they are logged in
- If sample preparation isn’t required, follow procedure
- Handle sample delivery of prepped samples according to the quality operating procedure
- Assist in ensuring turnaround time meets clients and Presidents requirements by working overtime when required
- Maintain a clean workstation throughout the day and clean for the following shift
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping
- Compliance with all safety procedures including MSDS review
- Any other tasks as determined by lab manager/process owner

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
Employees are required to wear a mask. Surfaces are sanitized regularly.

- Ancaster, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Front desk: 1 year (preferred)
- Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)
