**Position Details**

**Wage**: $15.65/hour
**Status**: Temporary Contract as part of Canada Summer Jobs
**Hours**: 40hrs/week; June 27th - August 12th(7 weeks)
**Shift**:8:30am - 4:30pm
**Position 1 **:Metchosin Club - 3900 Metchosin Road
**Position 2**:Westshore Club - 345 Wale Road

**Position Summary**

Working with BGC South Vancouver Island’s highly trained staff, Program leaders will have an opportunity to develop their leadership and facilitation skills, make new friends, and gain valuable skills for the future. LIT’s will be working directly with our summer day camp programs which serve children ages 5 - 8 and 9 - 12. The LIT program is designed to meet youth where they are at, and create welcoming opportunities for them to develop their leadership and facilitation skills without being pushed too far out of their comfort zones.

LIT’s will participate in our Outdoor Adventure summer camps located in Metchosin. The property offers 98 acres of forest and fields, with a rock climbing wall, low ropes course, canoeing and swimming ponds, archery, trails, and more. LIT’s will have the opportunity to learn how to properly and safely assist leaders in facilitating these activities. LIT’s will assist leaders with child minding and facilitation of daily activities. As LIT’s become more confident in their role as a leader, they will have the opportunity to lead activities with the support of the leadership team. As a component of the Canadian Service Corps requirements, LIT’s will be asked to complete two surveys, and engage in a small reflection project intended to highlight their experience in this volunteer opportunity.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Students in grade 10+ (minimum age 15 years at hire)
- Outdoor skills considered an asset
- Attended a camp an asset
- A willingness to learn
