Tow Truck Operator

**Job Summary**
Core duties and responsibilities
- Vehicle towing and recovery: Safely operate a tow truck to transport disabled, impounded, or improperly parked vehicles.
- Roadside assistance: Provide emergency services like jump-starting batteries, changing flat tires, or delivering fuel to stranded motorists.
- Vehicle assessment: Evaluate the situation to determine the best course of action for safely moving a damaged or disabled vehicle.
- Vehicle securing: Properly and safely secure vehicles to the tow truck using appropriate equipment before transport.
- Inspections and maintenance: Perform regular pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the tow truck and equipment.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, other drivers, and customers via radio or phone.
- Documentation: Complete and maintain required paperwork, such as tow logs, invoices, and mileage records.
- Repairs: May perform minor emergency repairs on the roadside.
**Requirements**:
- Valid driver's license: A clean driving record is crucial, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required depending on the vehicle and location.
- Mechanical knowledge: Strong mechanical knowledge related to automotive systems and repairs.
- Physical fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Problem-solving: Strong ability to assess situations and make quick, effective decisions.
- Customer service: Excellent communication skills to professionally interact with customers during stressful situations.
- Time management: Ability to manage time effectively to respond to calls and complete jobs efficiently.
- Safety awareness: Strong adherence to safety protocols for both the operator and the public.
