General Manager with Wine Experience: Join Our Neighborhood Wine Bar

We are on the lookout for a seasoned and passionate General Manager with wine knowledge to lead our team at Ladybug Wine Bar. Located in the heart of Toronto's Corktown, Ladybug brings a touch of warmth and charm to the city's wine bar scene. Our space is inspired by cozy gathering spots, where guests are invited to unwind and socialize in a casual, friendly atmosphere. We believe that wine should be accessible to everyone, creating a comfortable and unpretentious experience for our guests. Accompanying the wine, we offer a dinner menu comprised of sharing plates, as well as a weekend brunch.

About the Role:
**Responsibilities**:

- Customer Experience and Quality Control: Maintain our warm and inviting ambiance, offering personalized service, including knowledgeable wine recommendations, to exceed guest expectations.
- Operational Excellence and Inventory Management: Oversee daily operations, manage inventory, and ensure sufficient supplies. Investigate discrepancies and place orders efficiently.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Ensure consistent implementation of SOPs and update where needed to reflect industry best practices.
- Wine Curation and Sourcing: Source, purchase, and manage relationships with importers and wine producers. Develop and update our wine list with fun and accessible descriptions.
- Team Building and Management: Recruit, train, review, and schedule staff. Foster a positive work environment, building comradery and distilling the spirit of Ladybug.
- Staff Training: Provide regular performance reviews and guidance to create an engaging, energetic, and team-oriented environment.
- Financial Management: Manage costs, including labor, inventory, and operational expenses to meet revenue targets.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure health and safety standards are met and all alcohol service regulations are complied with.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete sales reports, invoices, scheduling, and payroll, working closely with the owners to maintain our unique atmosphere.

What We're Looking For:

- Education and Experience: 3-5 years of experience in higher-volume, upscale restaurant management.
- Guest Service: Exceptional guest service orientation with a lead-by-example mentality.
- Work Pace: Able to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Wine Knowledge: Strong wine knowledge, with sommelier or wine education training being an asset.
- Financial and Operational Management: Demonstrated knowledge of financial and operational management.
- Certifications: Servsafe Food and Alcohol certification is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Able to stand or walk for long periods in a busy environment.
