Western Launch aims to assist first-year students in their transition to university life and to equip parents and family members with the tools to support their students effectively. **Responsibilities**: The Family Programming Student Coordinator will play a key role in organizing and implementing programs designed to engage and support parents and family members. What will you gain from this role? - Meeting facilitation and presentation skills to varied audiences - Enhanced communication skills through a variety of mediums - Further development of leadership skills - Experience with event planning and coordination - Enhanced organizational skills Key Responsibilities: - Develop and distribute monthly newsletters for parents and family members in collaboration with campus partners. - Regularly update the Western Launch parent/family member website with essential information and resources. - Support the coordination of in-person programming for Summer 2025. - Support the development and delivery of virtual workshops on a range of topics. - Serve as a liaison between campus partners and Student Experience, fostering strong collaborative relationships. - Track participant attendance at workshops and events - Assist professional staff in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of events and programs. - Deliver presentations to parents and family members, enhancing their understanding of university life. - Foster a positive and inclusive environment that helps participants feel a sense of belonging in the Western community. - Help prepare and finalize program materials and logistics. - Display an energetic and enthusiastic attitude throughout all tasks. - Perform other duties as assigned. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. - Active and engaged member of the Western community. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Demonstrates passion, empathy, and a strong desire to help others. - Experience working with high-needs groups and effectively managing conflict with a customer service focus. - Strong coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and demands simultaneously. - High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. - Ability to build relationships with campus partners and integrate information from various departments to connect parents and family members with appropriate resources. - Knowledge of the supports and services available to students at Western. - Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of campus resources. - Ability to take direction and provide leadership as needed. - Ability to maintain professional and appropriate relationships with students, parents/family members, and staff. Position Requirements: - Minimum 70% academic average (65% in Engineering) - Western undergraduate or graduate student, main campus only - Completed at least 10 full courses (or equivalent) at Western and continuing education in fall 2024 - Ability to attend work in-person on campus from October 2024 to April 2025 - Previous experience working with Summer Academic Orientation/Community Connections/Western Launch (or equivalent as demonstrated through knowledge of programs and services on campus) - Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge about programs and services at Western Position Specifics: Term Length: Part-time, December 2024 - April 2025, Up to 10 hours/week. Time Commitment: Up to 10 hours per week between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, with some weekends and evenings required. **Why Western?**: **Background Checks**: While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
