The Ministry of Education is seeking two Team Leads to assist the branch in providing financial oversight over Ontario's school boards, ensuring compliance with various legislation and regulation, and making a meaningful impact to drive educational excellence, innovation, and equity in our province. The Financial Analysis and Accountability Branch (FAAB) is responsible for large-scale grant administration to school boards, financial policy and analysis, and the consolidation of results into provincial financial statements and public accounts. The Financial Accountability Units within the branch provide advice and assistance on financial matters related to school boards which include: - managing the administration and accountability of the school boards' operating grants. - conducting compliance audits. - monitoring the school boards' financial health and recommending proactive actions to ensure ongoing financial stability. Note that there are two opportunities within the branch in the following two units: - Financial Accountability unit: oversees a portfolio of 36 school boards in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Barrie and Ottawa Regions and six school authorities located within treatment centres for children and youth. - Financial Accountability unit: oversees a portfolio of 36 school boards in Sudbury, London regions including 12 French-language school boards across the province and four isolate boards. What can I expect to do in this role? - lead financial policy analysis, issues management and compliance risk assessments with the goal of increasing the ministry's financial accountability for the education sector - use your accounting, economics and statistics expertise to compile data and conduct ongoing analysis of action plans, issues, and proposals from schools boards - design, analyze and lead risk management forecasting - provide strategic advice on the need for new or amended policy and legislation - analyze issues and develop advice for senior management on the potential impact of financial policy changes - oversee the development of complex and comprehensive reports, position papers, submissions, and briefing materials to inform decision-making at the highest levels of the ministry - lead the development of accountability mechanisms that ensure financial policies are implemented accurately and effectively - design and implement changes to the audit framework and implement new audit strategies and systems - lead multi-disciplinary projects, including leading professional staff How do I qualify? **Financial knowledge and expertise**: - You can gain knowledge of the broad fiscal framework governing provincial funding, taxation, expenditures, and reform concerns. - You have knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles and practices. - You can gain knowledge of the elementary/secondary education funding model in Ontario. **Project management and leadership skills**: - You have knowledge of project management methods and practices and experience managing concurrent projects and directing project teams. - You can lead and motivate staff to deliver results. **Analytical and strategic thinking skills**: - You have experience leading in-depth analysis of financial issues such as leading project design, selection of research methods and tools, supervision of data collection, development of databases, audit of data for integrity, statistical analysis, and summarization and presentation of results/findings. - You can develop financial and policy advice on the development of financial and risk assessment strategies. - You can think strategically and creatively to develop new solutions in the absence of established precedent. **Consultation and communication skills**: - You can build and maintain collab
