**GENERAL OVERVIEW**
The Culinary team is responsible for food preparation and quality. The First Cook assists with the daily execution of food production. The primary areas of focus for this position include:
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Assist the chefs with execution of daily production
- Assist in plate presentations and creating visual food displays for banquet/restaurant functions.
- Assist in the executing and plating of assigned banquet functions.
- Assist in establishing recipe specifications, plate presentations, and creating visual food displays
- Prepare dishes by following the methods of preparation and observe quality of product by viewing color, taste, texture, portion size and appearance.

- Ability to work line without supervision.
- Ability to execute small buffet or plated functions without supervision.
- The ability to work quickly and execute line orders within allotted timeframe.
- Adhere to all standards set forth by the chef and management team.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by implementing all sanitation codes and appropriate food handling procedures and proper storage procedures.
- Set up and clean up station for appropriate meal period.
- Help create a positive work environment through teamwork and cooperation with peers and leaders.
- Actively participate in monthly departmental communication meetings.
- Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by reporting all safety hazards, following WHMIS and Fire Safety training, and working in a safe manner.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and displaying respect and courtesy to all employees.
- Embrace all hotels standards
- Perform any other duties assigned by Executive Chef or Sous-Chef.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 3-5 years culinary experience in high quality food production facility (ie. hotel industry) preferred
- Red seal or equivalent experience is required; culinary degree preferred; serve safe certified
- Knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper preparation.
- Ability to foster a team spirit within the kitchens and build a positive working environment.
- Capable of handling a physically demanding workload, including lifting and standing for long periods.
- Reliable and flexible to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Hours will vary according to occupancy and the needs of the department.
**POSITION DETAILS**:
- Shifts: Will include mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30-40 per week
**Salary**: $20.06-$20.56 per hour
