2171449 Alberta Ltd is recruiting on behalf of our client, Holiday Inn Edmonton South - Evario Events - The First H4 property with Conferencing and Banqueting facilities in Canada with 126 state of the art rooms, newly renovated Casual Fine Dining restaurant & bar, a 20,000 sq ft banqueting and conferencing facilities.

We are currently searching for an experienced **Banquet Porter **to join our Food and Beverage Team. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with great customer service. This Position will report to and work with the Operations Manager - F&B to execute Banqueting corporate, social events and more. As an experienced banquet associate and team player, your energy, people skills and commitment to service are what the Banquets Team needs to pull off a spectacular event that our guests won't forget If you enjoy working in a busy environment with a cohesive team, and take pride in creating memorable experiences for your guests, a role as a Banquets Porter will provide you with a fun and rewarding work environment

**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

Banquet Associate is responsible for
- Preparing and organizing set-ups for upcoming banquet events
- Setting up banquet functions and conference rooms as specified by meeting organizers
- Providing exceptional service to all guests in a variety of settings including plated and buffet banquets for breakfasts, lunch and dinners, working lunches, coffee breaks, cocktail receptions, formal evening events.
- Follow proper Sequence of Service and Standards for function type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktail) and style (plated, butler, buffet, French)
- Interact clearly, courteously, professionally with guests, colleagues and management team to ensure guests receive excellent guest service.
- React to additional guest requests in a positive, professional and timely manner
- Set function tables: polish cutlery, check glassware, place tableware, to an accurate and consistent standard, prior to guest arrival
- Organize station for food service and serve food and beverage
- Greet and seat guests upon their arrival
- Understand menu and banquet event details prior to function and answer questions as required regarding the function and food and beverage
- Follow proper cleaning standards and debussing procedures
- Ensure equipment is returned to appropriate storage, laundry and kitchen locations
- Maintain tidy, clean, safe workspace and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

The Banquet Associate must have:

- Fluency in the English language, both written and verbal
- Thorough knowledge of wines, cocktails and menu terminology
- Excellent organizational skills
- A high level of responsibility and commitment
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment that demands independent decision-making
- Polished demeanor, Impeccable grooming and presentation
- Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including: Standing/walking for extended periods of time, Lifting and carrying heavy trays.
- Must be very reliable with flexibility to work a variety of shifts
- Commitment to Health & Safety and dedication to maintaining a safe work environment
- Must be available for a variety of shifts including early mornings and late nights with flexibility in days off
- Proserve certification required

During the course of performing the physical demands of this position, associates are expected to observe and adhere to safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.

The physical activity normally entails the following attributes.

Position is expected to:

- Stand more than 2/3 of the time
- Walk more than 2/3 of the time
- Sit less than 1/3 of the time
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Push / pull up to 25 pounds.
