**Duties**:
The Operations Sector ensures that high-quality Impact Assessments of major projects, as well as Regional and Strategic Assessments are conducted and completed in a timely and predictable way in accordance with the Impact Assessment Act (IAA).
Impact Assessments contribute to informed decision making on major projects, in support of sustainable development. The Operations Sector collaborates with the proponent, federal authorities and other jurisdictions to integrate scientific information and Indigenous knowledge in project assessments, providing for the meaningful participation of the public and Indigenous groups.
The Operations Sector consists of the following directorates:
Review Panels, Regional Assessments and Strategic Assessments:
The Regional Assessments and Strategic Assessments directorate is responsible for regional assessments (RAs) and strategic assessments (SAs) throughout the country, including identifying, evaluating and planning for potential RAs and SAs and conducting analyses of public requests; providing secretariat support to independent Committees appointed to conduct RAs and SAs; and developing related policies, guidance and procedures. The Review Panels division is responsible for the delivery of assessments by review panels, including providing secretariat support to the independent review panels and supporting the Government Canada’s participation in assessments by review panel.
Regional Operations - West:
Conducts Agency-led assessments, processes designation requests and undertakes public and Indigenous consultation for projects in western Canada, including the Pacific and Yukon Region, Prairies and Northern Region. This directorate also includes Regional Operations, which provides support across the Operations Sector on the interpretation and implementation of CEAA 2012 and IAA to ensure national consistency and high quality assessments.
Regional Operations - East:
Conducts Agency-led assessments, processes designation requests and undertakes public and Indigenous consultation for projects in eastern Canada, including the Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic regions.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Experience preparing and analyzing environmental science-based information, data, technical reports or presentations.
PC-03
Experience managing projects.
Experience consulting with various stakeholders.
Experience providing expert advice to senior management or decision-makers on environmental science matters.
