**Job Purpose**:
Reporting to the Partners, the Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, cash flow management as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This position is a hybrid of hands-on operations along with strategic, ‘big-picture’ financial management. The controller will be a reliable, knowledgeable, and experienced individual who possesses a high level of attention to detail and organization in executing strategic business. The Controller will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide guidance and insight to various leaders that will form a basis for decision making. Thriving in this position requires an ambitious self-starter who is looking to innovate and improve processes and controls to make the business more effective and profitable. Being a Controller with HGA means being a leader within the group who is responsible for the financial operation of business contributing to the corporate structures and decision making.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Oversee all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cash flow and banking etc
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts along with monthly financial statements and report on variances
- Provide strategic financial and cash flow guidance to the company’s principals and assist in the financial management of the company
- Assist with managing financial relationships with the company’s vendors, customers, lenders and external banking relationships etc
- Prepare year-end working papers and financial statements for all entities
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Assist with overseeing general operations that may include information technology, property management, HR, etc
- Various Senior Bookkeeping duties
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance
- Create and implement financial policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting regulations
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Maintain accurate and up to date financial records
- Stay updated on accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance and best practices
- Provide guidance and coaching to team members and ensure their professional development
- Conducting any and all other duties assigned
- Other ad hoc projects (process improvement, best practices) as required

**Qualifications**:
**_ Education & Experience:_**:

- Proven working experience as a financial controller of no less than 3 years
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation
- Experience in a professional office environment preferred but not necessary
- Adaptable to a growing and ever-changing role

**_ Skills & Knowledge: _**:

- Extensive knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
- Proficient in Caseware and Profile
- Strong business acumen
- Strong computer skills (Especially Microsoft Office)
- Ability to lead and advise teams and clients.
