Research Assistant, Ucn Guide Coating Facility

Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member. **Position Overview**: he researcher will assist pulsed laser deposited coatings made in the UCN Guide Coating Facility at the University of Winnipeg. They will be responsible the creation of the coatings, repairing/improving coating equipment and processes and assist in coating quality data collection and analysis. **Duties**: - Assist with the "tube" coating responsibilities of the facility, which entails running the Excimer laser, loading and unloaded tubes to be coated, monitoring the facility while the coating is happening, and performing coating evaluation analysis. - The person with also build and commission a new vacuum chamber in the facility. **Qualifications**: - Physics or engineering major who has taken PHYS-3901 and earned a minimum of an A. - Python programing language and experience working with an Arduino. - Able to lift 25 lbs. **Condition(s) of Employment**: - **Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.** The period of work will be from **May 5, 2025 - October 15, 2025**and the estimated total hours of work will be **600-650 hours**. **_ Note_**_: This position is represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada - Research Capacity Unit._ **Note**: The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.
