Technical Design Associate

The famous Design Team at Fluevog Shoes are looking for a tech-oriented, shoe-loving designer who’s excited about the idea of working with other multi-talented, hard-working and hugely modest fashion design and developer pros to create the amazing JFS styles in weird and wonderful ways You’ll take existing designs and create stunning new visuals for our retail stores, create repeatable patterns and designs for use on our socks/leathers/scarves, or help create new elements for shoe buckles and accessories. Whether you're tinkering with the latest technology or crafting beautiful designs, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our products

**What you bring (your Desired Skills and Experiences)**:
You should have at least 1-2 years of experience with Graphic Design and/or Product/industrial Design, and be comfortable with basics such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and 3D modeling software such as Rhino or equivalent. If you have experience in Asana that would be great, as that's what we use to keep us organized-ish. Most importantly, we're looking for a savvy and stylish team player who can take ideas and make magic a reality with us as a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Product/Industrial Design or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Product Design
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Rhino or equivalent 3D software knowledge is a must
- Excellent technical, digital and hand sketching/illustration abilities
- Knowledge of Procreate is a plus
- Graphic design experience is a plus
- Experience with repeatable patterns is a plus
- Keen sense of art, fashion, trends and pop culture
- Strong attention to detail
- Quick understanding of direction and focus on project goals
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Interest in store design and visual merchandising trends
- Understanding of product process
- Good sense of priority
- Able to work independently

**What you’ll be doing (Your Key Responsibilities)**:
Reporting directly to Fluevog’s Design Director and with the supervision of the Design Department, you will be establishing this new role on the team in supporting the creative process at JFS by translating a variety of design assets to both 3D and 2D. Your technical expertise in quickly learning new digital tools will help the creative team express their ideas in new products, and the retail fixtures you help design and create will (possibly quite literally) elevate our footwear to new heights
- Create 2D and 3D designs to be used as part of Fluevog in-store displays (fixtures, shelves, mirrors, risers and display units) or on product components (buckles, sole graphics, labels, and various accessories)
- Create 3D models of existing footwear and convert them to physical forms ranging from small miniature charms right up to oversized, large scale art pieces for store displays
- Explore new graphics apps that could simplify and amplify the creative execution of design assets for product and retail spaces
- Create and modify graphic elements to be used on custom prints (florals, typography, swirls and motifs. Turn a combination of elements into repeatable patterns
- Troubleshooting the technical aspects of printing
- Designing or combining elements in layout to be used on buckles and custom sole designs
- Create or modify visual elements (made using Adobe Illustrator) for product knowledge packages
- Support team on cataloging/archiving iconic design department assets such as shoe lasts, buckles and various accessories.
