**POSITION TITLE**: Communications Officer

**REPORTS TO**:Manager, Communications and Marketing

Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) is a national non-profit association that represents over 7,000 speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and communication health assistants. We have a fantastic opportunity within our communications team for the right individual to join our organization. This is full time permanent position with a hybrid work schedule.

**OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION**

Supporting the Manager of Communications and Marketing, and in collaboration with the rest of SAC’s communication team, the Communications Officer supports the creation of internal and external communications, ensuring messages are consistent and engaging for the targeted audience.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**General**:

- Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of SAC’s overall communications strategy, including the development of social media content
- Ensures that all SAC messages across all platforms are clear, consistent, on-brand and maximize member engagement
- Writes, edits, and reviews SAC collateral such as website content, social media content, and newsletters

**Social media**
- Helps manage SAC’s social media channels including content development, monitoring, issues management, analytics, and approvals process
- Develops and executes social media strategies to achieve association objectives, increase brand visibility and drive user engagement
- Provides recommendations on leading trends in the areas of communications, marketing, and social media

**Speech and Hearing Month**
- Assists with the planning, execution, and evaluation of SAC’s annual Speech and Hearing Month campaign
- Works with content experts to aid in the development of public awareness resources

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in a field that relates to communications
- Good knowledge of Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using Canva and social media management tools
- Knowledge of WordPress and Elementor is a strong asset
- Native Proficiency in French or an advanced level of Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset for this position

- _Computer Skills_ — Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Adobe products,

Microsoft Office products and website content management systems

- Project Management Skills — Ability to organize comprehensive work-back schedules and ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- _Time Management Skills —_ Ability to balance competing priorities and multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines
- _Problem Solving_ — Works well with fellow team members to problem solve situations. Meets challenges with resourcefulness and generates suggestions for improving work
- _Initiative_ — Volunteers readily and is always seeking ways to foster self-development and growth. Sets and achieves challenging goals

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
This position reports to the Manager of Communications and Marketing and works with mínimal supervision and has the ability to juggle multiple priorities with competing deadlines. **This position is based in the Ottawa office.**
