YNRA description: YouthNet RéseauAdo (YNRA) is a bilingual for youth, by youth mental health promotion and support program at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). At YNRA, we strive to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness through prevention and intervention activities, education, research, and advocacy. The YouthNet RéseauAdo program was designed in response to a body of research that suggests that adolescents are much more likely to speak to peers (ages 20-30) than older adults. The role of the Youth Facilitator is therefore to facilitate healthy conversations with youth about mental health and reduce stigma within YNRA’s peer led service delivery model.

Key Responsibilities:
Daytime Staff:

- Facilitate mental health presentations and information booths for a variety of audiences in intermediate & high schools and community centres/youth centres. These presentations and information booths take place between 8am-4pm, Monday to Thursday and can take place anywhere in the Ottawa region.
- Attend mandatory team training sessions for facilitation, team building, and knowledge development. Trainings take place once a month on Sundays from 9-12pm or a weekday evening.
- Maintain proper documentation and follow-up practices for workshops and safety concerns
- Identify youth at risk, conduct individual follow-ups with youth when necessary and connect them to resources and services, at YouthNet / RéseauAdo, CHEO and in the community.
- Communicate respectfully and efficiently with core staff members and the other youth facilitator team members

**Evening Staff**:

- Facilitate 6-8 week-long activity-based mental health programs for youth both at the YouthNet office (2305 St. Laurent Blvd, Unit 300B) and with community partners (at their sites). These programs vary in length (ie: 2-4 hours), take place between 4pm-9pm, Monday to Thursday, and can take place anywhere in the Ottawa region.
- Potential to host information booths at community partner evening events
- Identify youth at risk, conduct individual follow-ups with youth when necessary and connect them to resources and services

**Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills**:

- Be between the age of 20 and 30 (essential)
- 1-2 years of experience working with youth (preferred)
- 1-2 years of experience facilitating groups (preferred)
- Knowledge of mental health and community resources serving youth (preferred)
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Certified (essential)
- (If you do not have ASIST, you will be required to complete the training prior to your start date)
- Police record check (vulnerable sector) (essential)
- Strong organizational skills (essential)
- Ability to work on a team (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential)
- Experience public speaking (preferred)
- Scheduling flexibility (as well as ability to offer fixed hours e.g. All Wednesdays from 8am - 4pm) (essential)
- Bilingualism is an asset (French and English) (preferred)
- Experience working with minority populations (e.g.2SLGBTQ++, newcomer youth, rural youth etc.) (preferred)
- Valid Driver’s license (preferred) & access to a vehicle (preferred)
