The Centre for Newcomers (CFN) is an Alberta leader in providing a variety of settlement, language training and employment readiness services to newcomers. **Job Purpose**

The Role: The **Fund Development Coordinator** plays a key role in supporting CFN’s fundraising, donor relations, and grant development efforts. This position is responsible for implementing fundraising initiatives, researching, writing and submitting grant proposals, maintaining donor databases, assisting with the coordination of events and campaigns, and assisting in building meaningful relationships with donors, funders, and community partners.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for advancing CFN’s mission through resource development and community engagement.

**Specific Responsibilities**

**Fundraising and development**:

- Lead the development and implementation of CFN’s fundraising plan.
- Research and identify potential funding sources, such as grants, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Work with the Communications team to assist in the coordination and execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and marketing efforts.
- Create a consolidated strategy and the establishment of a unified, professional fundraising structure capable of pursuing diverse revenue streams in a coordinated manner.
- Maintain and grow government resources while strategically increasing the proportion of non-government funding through high-potential streams such as grants, major gifts, private/corporate philanthropy, legacy giving.

**Donor and stakeholder relations**:

- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Manage donor databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Develop donor communications, such as appeals and impact reports.
- Support Donor Steward activities to show donors the impact of their contributions.

**Administrative and reporting**:

- Provide administrative lead for all aspects of fund development.
- Prepare and deliver reports for grants and funders to ensure compliance and accountability.
- Track deadlines and manage a fund development calendar.

**Skills**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- Diploma or degree in Fundraising, Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience in fundraising, development in a non-profit setting is highly valuable.
- Passion for CFN’s mission and values, and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community service.

**Working conditions**
- Involves travel within the city
- Able to work nights and weekends when required
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
