Assistant Technician, Lab and Field Services

Our team is growing, and as a result we're looking for Laboratory and Field Technicians to join our amazing group of professionals. As part of the Materials Engineering Team in Moncton, NB, you will be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering in the province through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff. You will be responsible for conducting various tests, analyses, and experiments to characterize and evaluate the properties of materials used in construction for our major clients. Your contributions will directly impact the advancement of cutting-edge technologies and the creation of novel materials that drive our industry forward.
**A day in the life**:
- This position will require working on multiple projects simultaneously and requires strong scheduling and organizational skills.
- You will perform a range of field and/ or laboratory tests and experiments to assess material (soil, concrete and hot mix asphalt) properties, composition, and behavior.
- You will operate and maintain testing equipment and instruments, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- You will support equipment calibration, maintenance and general housekeeping requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
- You will support sample management and the safe materials handling practices required for shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples.
- You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, engineers, and scientists, to support ongoing projects and provide valuable insights.
- You will compile and analyze experimental data for a variety of test methods, generating clear and concise reports to communicate findings to the team.Follow WSP’s Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies.
