**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Water and Wastewater Integrated Systems, the Manager of Water Wastewater Instrumentation and Skilled Trades is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Millwrights, Instrumentation and Control Technicians, and Auxiliary Power Service Technicians to maintain the efficient operation of equipment within the Water & Wastewater Section.

**Education**:

- Completion of a related Apprenticeship Program from a recognized College or Trade school as a Certified Electrician (309A or 442A), Certified Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) or Certified Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) in the Province of Ontario.

OR
- A post-secondary 3-year diploma or degree in a related field or equivalent.

**Knowledge**:

- 8,000 - 9,000 hours of work as an Apprentice, as required for trades certification with the College of Trades.
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- 5 years of trades related experience.
- 3 years of experience with PLC’s, SCADA systems etc.
- Minimum of 1 year of W-WW operational experience (nontrade related) for MOE license is preferred.
- Class 1 Water or Wastewater Treatment License or Class 1 Distribution or Collection License or Water Quality Analyst is preferred.
- Knowledge of provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Provincial & Federal Codes related to the trades supervised.

**Responsibilities**:
**Directs and supervises the daily work activities of the instrumentation, backflow prevention and auxiliary power trades group for the Water and Wastewater division, including regular hours and emergency response or relief activities. (50% of time)**:

- Develops and implements the technical standards for instrumentation, auxiliary power systems and other related technologies, ensuring they are consistently used and maintained.
- Develops and administers preventive maintenance (PM) programs, issuing work orders, approving work orders and closing work orders, while ensuring the satisfactory completion of the work or repairs.
- Approves and facilitates internal capital upgrades for staff ensuring they have the opportunity to participate in such projects while maintaining the required level of service for day-to-day maintenance activities.
- Determines and assigns materials, equipment and tools that may be required for work assignments and ensures their return.
- Ensures compliance with the provisions of Regional policies and procedures, keeping abreast of legislative and other changes e.g. AWWA, NSF in process and providing technical support regarding these changes.
- Maintains detailed daily work diary that will be retained for 5 years for reference in potential litigation.
- Oversees the preparation of maintenance manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assists with the continuous improvement of the Division’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Conducts research and provides direction with respect to instrumentation and auxiliary power “Best Practice”, technology and resources.
- Responds to emergencies, complaints and requests for service and takes appropriate actions.
