**Position Summary**
The Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CCYAC) provides a child-centred, trauma-informed, and collaborative response for children and youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, or violence. By bringing together law enforcement, child protection, mental health, and child and family advocacy, CCYAC ensures a coordinated response that reduces re-traumatization and prioritizes healing.
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the **Client Care Specialist (CCS)** is integral to this model. As the first point of contact for children, youth, and families arriving at the Centre, the CCS sets the tone for a safe, supportive, and respectful experience. This role combines client engagement with administrative and operational responsibilities that ensure the Centre runs smoothly and families feel cared for from the moment they walk through our doors.
**POSITION**: Client Care Specialist
**PROGRAM**: Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre
**NUMBER OF POSITIONS**: 1
**TERM**: Temporary Full Time (37.5 hours a week) - until end of March 2026 with possibility of extension.
**SALARY**: $21.00 per hour
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Client Engagement and Support**_
- Provide a warm, trauma-informed welcome to children, youth, families, members of the multi-disciplinary team and visitors entering the Centre.
- Create and maintain a safe, calm, and child-friendly environment.
- Uphold strict client confidentiality and contribute to a culture of safety and respect.
- **Coordination and Administration**_
- Coordinate and schedule forensic interviews, therapy appointments in collaboration with Child & Family Advocates, therapists and partner agencies.
- Manage billing information and prepare invoicing support.
- Assist with reports, resource development, data entry, and record-keeping as assigned.
- **Centre Operations**_
- Oversee reception and the client parking assistance service.
- Monitor office supplies, equipment, and facility needs; coordinate maintenance and repairs as required.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Centre to ensure it remains welcoming and professional for clients, staff, and partners.

- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn scheduling and database systems.
- Administrative skills including scheduling, reception, billing support, and document preparation.
**Requirements**:
- Criminal History Check inclusive of Vulnerable Sector and Child Services Check.
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice and continuous learning.
- Commitment to use of radical candor in their communications with colleagues.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required for community events and program activities.
- Valid driver's license (preferred) and clean driving record
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- CPI Certification
- Comfort working in an environment with a facility support dog as part of trauma-informed service delivery
**Qualifications**
- Certificate or diploma in Office Administration, Community Support, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Experience in a client-facing role, preferably within a child-serving, healthcare, or social services organization.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant client-facing/administrative experience will be considered.
- Training in trauma-informed practice is an asset (or willingness to complete training).
- Experience in crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries and handle sensitive information with confidence.
