Construction Foreman

**Job Duties**
- Lead the daily activities of construction staff; providing coaching and training as required while also being “on the tools”.
- Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment issues.
- Monitors job progress and provides regular progress reporting to management.
- Ensure high quality standards of workmanship and efficiency.
- Ensure the efficient use of labour, machines and materials used by construction staff.
- Take an active role in monitoring performance, providing feedback and taking corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with Homestead Land Holdings Limited health and safety training and reporting requirements.
- Clean and prepare work-site.
- Operate jackhammers and drills.
- Place, consolidate, and protect case-in-place concrete or masonry structures.
- Position, join, align, and seal structural components.
- Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete.
- Build and position forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use.
- Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
- Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.
- Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade specifications, using appropriate tools.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Set-up, operate, and disassemble swing stages.
- Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
- Install sewer, water, and storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance equipment.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities.
- Bolt, nail and align forms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Drive, maintain, and keep track of company truck and mileage
**Requirements**:
- Ten (10) years of experience as a construction worker
- Applicable licenses to operate forklifts and other related machinery
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
- A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
- Strong leadership and delegation skills
- Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
- Strong time management, communication and problem solving skills
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
