**EXCAVATION FOREMAN**

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, functions as a working supervisor/crew leader, supervising labourers and equipment operators performing work activities relating to digging and removal of earth in construction projects, i.e. parking lots, streets, sidewalks, pathways etc.

**DUTIES**
- Supervise an assigned work crew
- Receive and prioritize daily work assignments and make crew work assignments
- Observe work in progress and provide guidance and direction on work procedures and techniques to labourers and operators
- Ensure on-site truck coordination, removal of materials
- Monitor supply of asphalt and additional supplies needed to complete the job
- Complete work activity sheets to report jobs completed, providing information on material used, location of work site, heavy equipment used and crew work assignments
- Inform Site Supervisor of performance or operational problems at work sites
- Ensure safe work procedures and safe work practices are followed at work sites, including but not limited to daily tailgate meetings
- Ensure barricades and other safety equipment are set up and in place while work is in progress
- Prepares accident and injury reports, where necessaryDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Ability to evaluate alternatives in order to make the best overall decisions based on service requirements while performing in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Strong problem solving and decision-making ability

- Self-managed and highly motivated
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and listen to people of different opinions
- Prior management / supervisory experience required
- Five years or more experience in road construction

**Job Type**: Contract

Required experience:

- Excavation Foreman: 5 years

**Salary**: From $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- construction: 5 years (required)
