Telecommunications Technician

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Install and repair TELUS Home Services (Home phone, internet, IPTV, and Smart Home Security) and associated equipment.
- Trace, install, and terminate telephone wiring, data wiring (cat 5e and cat 6), coaxial wiring and fiber optics wiring.
- Promote and sell TELUS products (commission available)
- Explain/discuss details regarding progress, issues, and applicable charges.
- Meet company quality standards and key performance metrics.
- Complete administration responsibilities accurately and timely
- Gather supplies and equipment from designated warehouse.
- Comfortable with carrying 28 feet ladder that weights 50lbs, climbing ladders up to 25 feet high, crawling in confined spaces, and working in all weather conditions.
- MUST be able to work on both Saturdays and Sundays regularly, and some statutory holidays.
- Work area will either be Vancouver, Burnaby/New Westminster, Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge, or other areas in the Lower Mainland as required.
- Working outside of Lower Mainland overnight for a short period of time may be required from time to time.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience in any of the following fields are an asset: Telecommunications & Smart Home Security / Electrical / IT / Network Systems / Sales / Customer Service
- Telecommunications field technician experience is preferred but will train if necessary.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to strive for excellence in customer service.
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or open work visa
- Valid driver’s license
- Normal color vision which is required to work with color-coded wiring.

**Note**:TC’s Telecommunication Inc. has a contractor-based workforce servicing TELUS. We would be looking to hire you strictly as a subcontractor, not an employee.

**SUBCONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS**:
You are responsible for all expenses listed below.
- Company registration and setup
- Purchase, finance, or lease a white van, SUV, or truck that is 7 years or newer with ladder rack bolted on
- Vehicle expenses include maintenance, fuel, registration & insurance.
- Work Safe BC coverage and commercial general liability insurance.
- Purchase of required tools

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$150,000.00 per year

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Every Weekend
- Holidays

- As mentioned in the job ad, you can generate a 6-figure net income with our competitive flat rate. However, to achieve that, you will be a contractor (not an employee). You will be operating your own business so you will need to register your business with the government, which is a $400 one-time fee. There will be some startup costs and ongoing expenses which are tax write offs. A top performer can earn over $600 a day on average before ongoing expenses which includes vehicle lease/finance(variable or $0 if buying one with cash), fuel (variable based on driving distance and fuel prices but from $80/week), vehicle insurance (variable based on your ICBC rate but about $2000/year), liability insurance (variable base on annual income but starts from $800/year), and WCB coverage (variable based on annual earning but about $800-$1400/year). - You will be required to purchase, lease, or finance a work van, truck, or SUV with a ladder rack that is 7 years or newer. Purchasing/financing a used work vehicle starts from $10,000. A used ladder rack can be purchased and installed from $500. Are you willing and able to do that?
- You will also be required to purchase your own tools which costs about $4200, which is a one-time cost. Are you willing and able to do that?
- To register your business, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have an open work permit. Please state whether your status is Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or open work permit.
- You will be required to work on both Saturdays and Sundays regularly as well as some statuary holidays. Are you able and willing to do that?
- You may be required to work outside of Lower Mainland and stay overnight away from home for a short period of time from time to time. Are you able and willing to do that?
- Are there any physical limitations that would prevent you from carrying a 28 feet ladder that is 50lbs?
