Cultural Services Coordinator-full Time

Reporting to the Cultural Supervisor, the Cultural Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating direct and indirect
cultural services to the Agency, Board of Directors and staff in order to develop and enhance the cultural service practice
of the Agency. The Cultural Services Coordinator will coordinate and develop locally accepted cultural practices for the
Agency in consultation with the Manager of Cultural Services, community Elders and cultural practitioners to facilitate
preservation and promotion of traditional practices within member First Nations to enhance positive and strong cultural
identity.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop and Implement Cultural Resources for the Agency:
- Coordinate various community and Agency meetings to develop cultural practices for staff, families,
communities and clients
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for cultural manual
- Develop and implement a training plan on cultural practices in collaboration with the Cultural Services
Manager
- Coordinate cultural teachings and ceremonies as required and directed
- Coordinate training for Agency partners on cultural practices, teachings and ceremonies to ensure
consistently-unified and culturally appropriate helping process
- Assist with ensuring all agency meetings and gatherings reflect cultural practices to guide discussions
and decisions
- Coordinate linkages to community traditional helpers
Interagency Participation:
- Coordinate and provide assistance to the Elders’ Advisory Circle
- As required, participate in the Elders’ Advisory Circle and other internal committees/groups in support of
services to the communities
- Collaborate with internal and external agencies to provide quality cultural programs and services to the
communities and to promote Agency services
- Liaise with First Nation communities to promote cultural resources
- Ensure effective and professional communications with all internal and external service providers
- Share information according to privacy and/or confidentiality guidelines
- Work respectfully, positively, professionally and collaboratively with team members
**Qualifications**:
Minimum Education / Experience
- A college diploma in Social Services, Native Studies, Office Administration
- Bachelor of Social Work, Native Studies or other related degree is preferred
- Three (3) years’ experience in a social services organization developing and coordinating cultural
programs/services
- Experience working with Aboriginal people, organizations and communities
Other Requirements
- Must provide a clear Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must have a Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel
- Must have $1M automobile insurance coverage
- Must provide a three-year uncertified Driver’s Abstract
