**About Shelter Movers**:
Shelter Movers provides moving and storage services at no cost to survivors and their children fleeing abuse. We are the only service of this kind in Canada, and our volunteers are who make us exceptional. Every year, in collaboration with community partners such as YWCA and Victim Services Units, our volunteer teams contribute over 15,000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse.
Shelter Movers Vancouver has been operational since November 2018 and has completed over 700 moves to date. We are growing and looking to add caring and compassionate people to our volunteer team.
**Position Summary**
The Intake Supervisor oversees the Intake Coordination process by supervising and supporting the Intake Coordinators with gathering information from referring agencies in response to move requests.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Provide ongoing support to all Intake Coordinators, i.e. be available to answer any questions/ troubleshoot issues;
- Oversee the monthly Intake Calendar to ensure sufficient coverage;
- Review the Intake Log on a daily basis to ensure: proper response time, thoroughness with responses to the intake form (particularly the list of belongings and safety information), and that flexibility around move date was requested;
- When a move has completed the Intake process, copy and paste the move row into Ongoing Moves and assign the move to Move Coordinators who is available;
- Provide regular updates to all Intake Coordinators within the Intake Slack channel and check in to confirm all aspects of the coordination are going smoothly;
- Train and onboard new Intake Coordinators accordingly;
- Provide coverage as a backup Intake Coordinator when necessary;
- Maintain rapport with current referral agencies, including transition houses, community-based agencies, Police Victim Services units.
**Skills, Experience and Education**
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of Shelter Movers’ policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality, provide trauma-informed care to clients, and remain calm during potentially stressful situations.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Tact, discretion, high maturity level and good judgement.
- Experience in project management, team management, and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- A passion for Shelter Movers’ mission of supporting women and children fleeing violence and abuse.
- No previous education is required.
**Assets**
- Ability to speak additional languages.
- Experience in social services, intake coordination, case management, and the Violence Against Women (VAW) sector.
- Previous volunteering experience on the Shelter Movers Intake team.
**Other Requirements**
Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, sign a confidentiality agreement, obtain a police reference check, and attend a Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session. The Intake Supervisor will be completing additional role-specific training.
**Estimated Time Requirements**
10-12 hours per week. This is a remote position, with occasional meetings (in-person and/or conference calls.)
