CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardiorespiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). In addition, CGMH provides care in specialty areas including obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care and surgery. The Hospital also provides outpatient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. **The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Patient Services and Professional Practice the Manager is responsible for providing effective leadership in collaboration with the Chief of Emergency as well as the Chief of Internal Medicine and Hospitalists to ensure efficient resource management (physical, human, financial) and the focus on safe, efficient patient care is maintained. This role provides leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and fosters an environment of learning, teamwork and individual growth.
**Qualifications**:
- A Degree in Nursing or Allied Health Discipline
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or applicable Allied Health College
- 5 - 10 years’ related Nursing or Health Discipline experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills, human resources management skills, and financial management skills
- Previous experience in, process mapping and implementing LEAN methods within a department is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with Change Management is desired.
- Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Meditech, and computerized charting.
- Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Completion of applicable leadership education is considered an asset.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS, ECG certification, CTAS certification, ENC (C), ACLS, TNCC, non-violent crisis intervention and PALS certification preferred.

- Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Accountable for the results and activities in the Unit/Department(s).
- Accountable for the direction and leadership within the areas of responsibility - while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Directs all nursing and allied health functions, processes and activities within the areas of responsibility
- Provides leadership in optimizing overall patient flow and interprofessional standards of practice
- Responsible for non-clinical support services staff working within the areas of responsibility
- Plans, directs, controls the design and implementation of policies, operating plans and processes affecting quality improvement, risks, regulatory compliance, satisfaction and safety
- Accountable for efficiently managing the human, fiscal, and material resources
- Provides an environment conducive to team building and maintains open lines of communication at all levels of the organization and contacts/consults/informs the Director, Patient Services and Professional Practice of actual and possible concerns related to patient care, personnel and other management issues
- Demonstrated focus on patient and staff safety utilizing effective quality management
- Responsible and accountable for setting the context of employees’ work and ensuring they have what they need to provide required services
