**Position Summary**:The Regional Economic Development Officer (the “REDO”) serves as the lead in driving economic development and diversification for the Region (City of Flin Flon, Town of Creighton, Village of Denare Beach), which includes duties such as but not limited to, industrial and community development, business retention and investment attraction, and pro
- development policy advocacy.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Assumes responsibility for facilitating community and economic development planning in order to identify and establish economic development opportunities for the Region**:

- Facilitates the community and economic development planning process.
- Leads development initiatives and provides recommendations to the Regional Economic Development Commission.
- Develops economic, sector and community profiles for the Region.
- Facilitates the development of community economic plans including vision, goals and objectives.
- Researches and provides recommendations on community economic development opportunities.
- Evaluates results of economic development studies and agreements and provides recommendations to the leadership.
- Takes minutes in meetings and maintains files and reports for the Regional Economic Development Commission.

**Assumes responsibility for identifying and fostering community economic development opportunities.**
- Identifies sectoral development opportunities for economic development and diversification in the Region.
- Acts as a liaison between local organizations, businesses and individuals and representatives of Councils and administrations.
- Facilitates partnerships within the communities to develop and promote development opportunities.
- Assists local organizations, businesses, and individuals to take advantage of economic development opportunities.
- Conducts surveys and research on market opportunities to benefit the Region.
- Identifies capital development program opportunities to benefit the Region.

**Promotes the communities in order to expand economic development opportunities.**
- Represents the communities in regional, territorial and national meetings, conferences and trade shows relating to economic development.
- Develops community and regional networks to benefit the Region.
- Develops updated business registry for the Region.
- Develops brochures and promotional materials (digital) to promote the Region.
- Promotes the community through media relations and liaise among the three governing Councils and the media.

**Qualifications and Knowledge**
- University degree in a related field an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of economic development theories and practices.
- Two to five years of related experience within a municipal government environment preferred.
- An understanding of relevant municipal legislation, policies and procedures.
- Business planning and market analysis abilities.
- Proven positive track record in dealing with business development interests.
- Proven ability to professionally lead projects, achieve mandates, control budgets and negotiate and manage vendor and consultant relationships.
- Proven ability to gather thorough information through researching, interviewing or other methodologies, and communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders in diverse settings

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
