Flin Flon, known as the “city built on rock”, is located eight hours north of Winnipeg. Thompson is known as the hub of the north – an industrious mining town with proud Indigenous identity and deep roots in the fur trade. The area offers opportunities for hiking, paddling, and backwoods camping adventures. Responsibilities: Perform full range of statutory child welfare services to families and children within the designated geographical area. Intake, conduct abuse investigations, develop case plans to ensure child safety. Coordinate support services, work with collateral community agencies. Assist with after‑hour services to children and families. Manage protection, voluntary family service and child in care cases. Achieve full working level based on a developmental learning plan. Essential Qualifications: Post‑secondary degree in social sciences (preferably BSW). Other combinations of education and experience may be considered at an underfill or commensurate classification. Ability to work from a strength‑based social work practice. Ability to identify signs of child abuse and neglect. Effective interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders. Strong time‑management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks/assignments in a high‑volume work environment with competing demands. Effective written and verbal communication skills—capable of producing clear, concise correspondence and delivering difficult messages to clients. Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Outlook). Desired Qualifications: Case management experience (intakes, assessments, service coordination, counselling, monitoring) in a social service setting. Ability to conduct safety assessments. Ability to conduct child abuse investigations. Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search. Must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check. Must provide a current and satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check. Must provide a current and satisfactory Prior Contact Check. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and the after‑hours stand‑by rotation when required. Position requires occasional overnight travel.
