The Day Camp Coordinator position will perform a variety of duties working within a leadership role, alongside Day Camp Counsellors in creating a quality camp experience that is engaging & fun for all camp participants. Prior to camp start, this role consists of program development, assisting with the hiring of counsellors, collaboration with camp staff during program development, and various administrative tasks as they emerge. This position oversees and monitors all daily camp operations, requiring continual communication with parents/caregivers be maintained to ensure their knowledge of camp events and special fieldtrips. This position coordinates the integration of Youth Leader Volunteers, inclusion staff and external support persons. The Day Camp Coordinator must assist counsellors in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for campers, and show confidence in handling emergency situations effectively.

This position will be required to ensure that the swim admission standards are being followed and may require you to be in the water on a daily basis. This role involves dealing with customer inquiries, concerns and implementation of behavior management strategies according to City of Brantford policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently completing a College or University level studies in Recreation, Education, Child and Youth Social Services field of study, or equivalent experience in a day camp setting
- 3-6 months of previous experience working in a day camp atmosphere, including experience dealing with children and youth
- Prior experience planning and implementing children's programs and activities is an asset
- Basic working knowledge of computer programs and software is required, plus the ability to perform the duties as outlined above within a reasonable time
- Have a working knowledge of water safety considered an asset
- Completion of Lifesaving Society Bronze Star or above considered an asset
- Successful completion of Safeguard will be required prior to commencing employment
- Applicants must submit a current Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past 3 months) must be submitted for approval by the corporation prior to commencing employment
