**Duties**:
The student will be responsible for developing an economic analysis of a new technique for transforming grain bin insect pests into animal feed for other agricultural sectors. The student will work collaboratively with the project leads in economics and entomology to develop an appropriate method to calculate the market value of the new technology in terms of estimating its potential as a new revenue stream for Canadian grain producers as well as estimating the growth trajectory for the edible insect market in Canada overall.

**Work environment**:
The project lead is located in Edmonton, AB, but project team members are located also in Morden MB. Thus most project meetings are held virtually and telework is possible.

**Education**:
Currently accepted into or enrolled in Master’s or PhD program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution for Fall 2025 with specialization in: agricultural economics.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in analyzing and modeling agricultural economic and farm management micro-data.
- In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
