**Position Title**: Patron Safety Staff

**Job type**: Part-time

**Starting Salary**: $21.50 per hour (commensurate with experience)

**About You: Patron Safety**

Think of it as being the host at some Halifax's most iconic hospitality destinations. Patron Safety team members should have a passion for safety, security and hospitality. Patron Safety staff should be able to anticipate problems or guests who may cause problems, ensure we comply with regulations outlined in the liquor control act, utilize non-violent conflict resolution to remove guests if we are required to remove them from property and while remaining courteous and friendly to guests and staff at all times.

**Responsibilities**
- Control access to patrons 19 years of age or older
- Ensure patrons entering do not exceed capacity set out by fire regulations
- Ensure patrons are not over served or pose risk to themselves, staff, guests or other members of the public
- Remain courteous and friendly to guests at all times
- Wish guests a good night as they depart
- Understanding of non-violent conflict resolution.
- Fast paced and demanding environment with a high volume of guests
- Indoor/outdoor in all weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, cold, heat)
- Knowledge of venue entertainment and offerings to provide guests
- Aid the liquor inspector in venue inspections
- Communicating with venue managers to keep them informed of the status of patrons in the venue and controlling the flow of guests coming into the venue

**Job Requirements**
- 2 + years experience working in a high-volume bar/restaurant (as security/door)
- Extensive knowledge of non-violent conflict resolution
- Ability to work under pressure
- Understands the venue guests across all day and night parts

**Work Environment**
- Physical demands include walking and standing, bending, kneeling, repetitive twisting and lifting, and repetitive arm movements
- Be able to work outside for a prolonged period of time
- Must be able to lift 40lbs
