**JOB SUMMARY**
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Operations, the Supervisor, Facilities Services (Mechanical and Architecture) is responsible for the oversight of building systems, infrastructure, and maintenance operations across CHEO’s facilities. The Supervisor ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of services that support core operations, patient care, and organizational continuity and compliance.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, the Supervisor leads a team of unionized skilled trades staff including carpenters, plumbers, a millwright, a steamfitter, and a painter/locksmith and coordinates external service providers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, support capital projects, and uphold compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal policies.
Within the Mechanical and Architectural portfolio, the Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the building envelope, plumbing, hydronic and utility systems, medical gases, millwork, doors, locks, security hardware, and associated infrastructure. The Supervisor manages inventory, enhances the use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and works closely with hospital stakeholders to ensure a safe, functional, and compliant environment.
This full-time, on-site Supervisor holds a strong understanding of facilities operations, asset management, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies, regulatory frameworks, and organizational priorities.

**Operations Oversight**:
- Manage daily operations of building systems, service requests and preventive maintenance (PM) through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring safe, reliable and efficient performance.
- Utilize CMMS and other tools to prioritize work orders, track tasks, and optimize workflows.
- Coordinate planned shutdowns and urgent repairs with stakeholders to minimize impact on patient care and operational disruptions.
- Conduct daily inspections of facilities to identify hazards, malfunctions, and service deficiencies, initiating timely corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal department to align facility operations with organizational needs and priorities.
- Ensure all operations meet healthcare codes and standards (OBC, OHSA, ESA, CSA, TIA, TSSA, Infection Control) and drive improvements in compliance, comfort, and sustainability.
- Oversee the upkeep of the building envelope, finishes, doors, plumbing, hydronic system, medical gases, and utilities.
**Maintenance, Reliability and Safety**:
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maintain system reliability and reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of assets, inspections, certifications, and service histories in CMMS to support compliance, planning, and operational optimization.
- Leverage data and analytics to support predictive maintenance and operational optimization.
- Monitor shops and storage area, maintaining inventory of tools, parts, and materials to support daily operations and maintenance.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs on plumbing, hydronic, domestic water, hot water, steam, natural gas, and medical gas systems, as well as architectural finishes.
- Conduct and coordinate water quality testing (domestic water, cooling towers, humidifiers, boilers) to meet CSA and infection control requirements.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and business continuity for critical utilities and medical gas systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations, infection control protocols, and environmental standards.
**Contract, Service Providers, & Project Support**:
- Develop scopes of work, obtain quotes, and oversee contract execution and performance to ensure quality and compliance.
- Support capital projects through design review, commissioning oversight, and new systems integration into operations.
- Liaise with consultants, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate project delivery and minimize disruption during shutdown.
- Monitor service provider performance and address deficiencies or service level gaps through corrective action and reporting.
- Contribute to sustainability initiative and lifecycle planning by aligning operations with environmental goals and asset strategies.
- Review and provide input on as-built documentation and single-line diagrams for accuracy, maintainability, and accessibility.
**Leadership and Team Administration**:
- Supervise and coach unionized skilled trades staff in Mechanical and Architecture, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver training and mentorship to build team capability in technical, safety, and compliance area.
