This position is eligible to work remotely on a part-time basis.
**Main Function**: Provide day-to-day early intervention involving occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses to achieve the early and safe return to work for Employees wherever practicable. Act as resource for Pioneer Manor Attendance Management Program (AMP).
This position supports the Human Resources and Organizational Development Division in fulfilling a corporate controllership role for disability management.
**Characteristic Duties**: Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation & Claims Specialist.
1. Responsible for co-ordinating all activities related to the administration of WSIB claims and workplace accommodations for Employees at Pioneer Manor. Follow up on all potential lost time injuries to ensure Employees return to work wherever practicable and maintain regular contact and assessment to provide for their early and safe return to work where their condition changes. Maintain detailed documentation for all disability related issues.
2. Co-ordinate and maintain ESRTW programs for injured workers in conjunction with supervisor, treating professionals, and Union, where applicable. Act as liaison with Employees, the medical community, WSIB, Insurance Carrier, and the Compensation, Benefits and Rehabilitation Section to provide for the safe and early return to work of Employees with a focus on early intervention and medical management.
3. Ensure Pioneer Manor is in compliance with legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code as well as CGS Policy and the Modified Work Program. Prepare and maintain detailed assessments and documentation in support of these requirements.
4. Provide training, consultation and direction to staff and develop customized return to work and accommodation programs while ensuring CGS’s compliance with legislation.
5. Monitor and facilitate the reintegration of disabled/ill workers through effective work hardening programs and various workplace accommodations.
8. Review NEER statements and pursue cost savings through aggressive case management and WSIB appeals as necessary.
9. Plan and co-ordinate educational sessions and prepare materials in support of a safe work environment and obligations under WSIA and OHRC.
10. Identify areas of risk; act as a resource to assist the Pioneer Manor Management team and Health and Safety team to develop, implement and monitor effective prevention plans through ongoing analysis of injury reports.
11. Provide Employee education sessions and orientation training as required.
14. Support Attendance Awareness Program and act as a resource to Supervisors, and provide support to employees as required.
15. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
16. Perform other related duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
**Education and Training**:
- College Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Social Services, Nursing, Human Resources) from a recognized College with Canadian accreditation.
- Certification in Disability Management considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Parklane software system considered an asset.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience with all aspects of WSIB case management, as well as non-occupational and disability attendance management, preferably in a large unionized organization, with demonstrated interest in Human Resources Management.
**Knowledge Of**:
- A sound working knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Human Rights Code, and other related legislation and regulations.
- Best practices within an area of responsibility.
- Horizontal linkages to other relevant government levels and services, as well as private sector rehabilitation services in the community.
**Abilities To**:
- Demonstrate ability to work with Employees, supervision and the broader medical community to bring about the early and safe return to work of Employees, including mediation where necessary.
- Liaise effectively between Employees, Supervisors and bargaining agents.
- Demonstrate effective verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, research and report writing skills.
- Work independently plus as part of a team.
