BCIT’s **Accessibility Services **department is seeking a **temporary, part-time (0.5 **FTE**) Program Implementation Coordinator**. This position, in collaboration with the ACEBC Program team, leads the research, development and integration of innovative academic communication equity and accessibility in post-secondary programs. This role focuses on identifying and integrating best practices, enhancing outreach and consultation efforts. Creates impactful educational resources tailored for students who are Deaf, hard of hearing or DeafBlind as well as for instructors, student services and accessibility professionals. Fosters an inclusive, diverse and supportive learning environment by advancing educational and service provider excellence.
- This position plays a key role in delivering student-centered, evidence-based products and services in alignment with our commitment to service provider excellence, systems changes, community mobilization and transition services.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES** **AND**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Work in collaboration with other Program Coordinator, ACE-BC to ensure alignment of program initiatives with organizational goals, with a focus on improving access and inclusion of Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind students in British Columbia’s post-secondary institutions (PSIs).
- Utilize thorough research and industry best practices to enhance program quality and effectiveness, particularly regarding access and inclusion for Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind students.
- Delivers tailored consultation services to ACE-BC partners, including accessibility/disability services coordinators and instructors, to optimize service delivery and ensure equitable access to education and resources.
- Provides culturally responsive guidance to interested parties and actively promote equity and inclusion for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals within the consultation framework.
- Develops resources based on stakeholder input, provincial needs data, accessibility legislation, and emerging trends, incorporating diverse community perspectives.
- Establishes professional qualifications, competencies, professional support and service delivery standards for interpreters and transcribers, informed by leading-edge research and industry best practices.
- Designs and implements interpreter training and resources. Administers screen assessments and coordinates supervision and mentorship of interpreters in PSIs.
- Provides expertise and enhance current training and resources on post-secondary transition and career preparation to advance technical assistance activities, transition curriculum and training. Works in collaboration with provincial partners where applicable.
- Assists accessibility services and faculty with effective practices, guidance and provides resources for accommodating Deaf students in various academic settings.
- Develops service evaluations and surveys and conducts environmental scans on current and effective practices
- Educates partners and collaborators, online and in-person, about the specific needs of Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind students in post-secondary education through accessible and innovative presentations, resources, and online tools.
- Advocates for inclusive and accessible learning environments across PSIs, ensuring access to high-quality curriculum, instruction, and student services.
- Develops targeted educational initiatives to raise awareness of barriers faced by Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind students, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards and with advocating for systemic changes.
- Supports PSIs in implementing standards of practice to ensure consistent access and inclusion for all enrolled students.

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s degree in Disability or Deaf studies, Deaf Education, linguistics, Social Sciences or related field. Relevant education, training and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of five years of recent, hands-on experience in the areas of: DHHDB accessibility in post secondary instruction or K-12; interpreter development and practices; educational and assistive technology; program evaluation
- Minimum of five years as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, Canadian Certification (COI) preferred and experience in post-secondary interpreting
- Working knowledge of best practices in accessibility and accommodations implementation for individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind or hard-of-hearing.
- Working knowledge of implementing strategies to advance equity, recognize diversity, and ensure inclusion, ideally in both k-12 and post-secondary systems
- Experience consulting, training, or providing professional development to a range of groups including students, interpreters, transcribers, professionals, families, post-secondary institution accessibility staff, and instructors.
- Strong technical writing skills
