**Education**:
- Master’s degree in social work (MSW) preferred, Bachelors (BSW) required, along with a minimum of three years management experience in the VAW or similar sector / field.
- OR A clearly demonstrated equivalent combination of relevant Education and Experience, may be considered.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Registered Social Workers or equivalent registered organization
**Skills**:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, communication and documentation skills (verbal and written).
- Exceptional conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated skills with program management and providing supervision, direction, and program planning.
- Supervision within a non-profit unionized setting an asset and preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of advocacy, crisis intervention, assessment, and service planning, based on the needs of abused women and their children.
- Knowledge of the issues and complexities contained within the violence against women framework.
- Thorough knowledge of Harm Reduction principals.
- Solid experience working with interpersonal relations and team building with strong problem solving and mediation skills.
- Experience designing services and training on matters related to the support and protection of women and their children who have experienced violence, utilizing an anti-oppression and feminist analysis framework.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Current and informed knowledge of women and children related to multi-cultural issues.
- Current and informed knowledge of the needs of diverse groups of women (eg. women with disabilities, LGBTQ, transgendered, survivors of trauma, women who self-harm, women with mental health issues and women with addictions)
- Ability to direct situations and implement rules and guidelines.
- Solid experience with managing teams using strong accountability principles
- Knowledge of group processes including the ability to design, plan, and research
- Sound and current knowledge of community resources throughout the Halton Region
- Current working knowledge of basic family law, the Child and Family Services Act and related legal issues is a strong asset.
- The ability to speak or write in a second language would be considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license, valid insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle
**What you will be doing**:
**Summary of Role**:
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Safe Shelter Services, including the development, coordination, and oversight, of the program and service delivery.- The role is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Shelter staff of Halton Women’s Place (HWP) and is responsible for ensuring that all Safe Shelter Services function in an effective and accountable manner.**Overall **Responsibilities Include**:
- In collaboration with the Logistics Supervisor, review and approve bi-weekly staff timesheets for payroll purposes. Monitor overtime hours, stat holidays, time off: including sick, vacation, personal and float hours.
- Assume “On Call” duties as part of an ongoing rotating schedule.
- Be responsible for the performance management of staff, which includes regular 1 on 1’s, completing annual performance appraisals, which include staff compliance with the agencies Core Competencies as well as goal setting and staff development.
