The **Preschool Child and Youth Instructor **at YMCA of Northern Alberta provides quality instruction to Child and Youth sport and recreation programs to members. They are directly responsible to the staff, members, volunteers and public to provide successful program delivery.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Role models recruitment and retention of volunteers and members, be an active participant in reaching volunteer and recruitment goals. Accountable to deliver high quality services through excellent relationships with members, support staff and volunteers in building positive relationships with members.
- Consistent communication with staff, volunteers, and members
- Address member (parental) concerns in a timely manner, following YMCA expectations.
- Ensure administrative duties related to programs and members are accurately and effectively completed as assigned by the coordinator.
- Facilitate high-quality sport and recreation programs and activities for participants by providing age appropriate activities
- Supervise members and volunteers during programming, manage behavior in accordance with the Child/Youth Behavior Management and Abuse policy. Member etiquette is to be monitored and reinforced.
- Ensure programs start and finish on time.
- Regularly inspect equipment, and ensure appropriate actions are taken to maintain it.
- Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios.
- Comply with the Centre’s emergency response and procedures by; participating in an annual review of emergency procedures, take action as needed to ensure a safe work environment for staff and volunteers.
- Notify the manager on duty if any emergency or serious problems arise.
- Provide opportunities for members to learn and develop in spirit, mind and body. Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, participation of others by helping out by their respective means, enrich the quality of programs and services, promote YMCA as a charity according to YMCA SAM Standards Document.

**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- Early Childhood development or related experience is an asset.
- Experience participating in or coaching recreational sport
- NCCP Level 1 or 2 is an asset.
- NCCP FMS (Fundamental Movement Skills) certification, within 3 months of hire.
- Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Must obtain employer specific WHIMIS and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
