**Facilities Maintenance Engineer, 8 am to 4:30 pm **_but Flexible based on the needs of the business i.e for equipment maintenance, testing, failures, etc._
**Role Purpose / Position Summary**
To oversee and manage the delivery of consistent operational processes and results for our customer. Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency and establish a standard production rate in performance of maintenance production, clerical and other worker operations. Provides support and trouble shooting for current operations. Manage the process of investigating, gathering, and analyzing data regarding sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies on-site as well as equipment layouts; establishes methods for maximum utilization of warehousing facility and personnel and make recommends and/or implements solutions. Manage the overall maintenance functions of the facility with limited direction.
**Key Accountabilities (What are the main responsibilities of the role, against which performance is measured)**
- Operates, maintains and troubleshoots the ammonia refrigeration system (compressors, valves, pumps, computers, cooling towers, electrical controls and PLC’s) where necessary, and maintains appropriate warehouse temperature for product storage.
- Ensures proper preventive maintenance and emergency breakdown repair capability on all key equipment and systems. These systems include: refrigeration, conveyor, scale and wrapper systems, club pack equipment, storage racks, pallet inverter, battery changing equipment, dock levelers, overhead doors, automatic sprinkler systems, and any additional systems or equipment in the facility.
- Maintains cooling tower treatment to prevent mineral/organic build up, where necessary for site.
- Maintains adequate tools and spare parts inventory with cost effective justification.
- Supports required safety programs, postings of government mandated reports, OSHA and Canadian compliance records and reports on outside inspections.
- Coordinates facility project work (cost, bidding, managing and scheduling).
- Conducts/supports employee training (Hazard Communication Programs, MSDS/WHMIS training, eyewash training, ammonia, etc.) as required by site/product.
- Maintains facility compliance with all municipal, state/provincial and federal fire and safety codes, including the testing/inspections of the fire protection system.
- Manages, tracks, and controls costs associated with maintenance of forklift/vehicle fleet to include preventive maintenance and repair.
- Coordinates bidding and purchasing of equipment and maintenance parts.
- Supports maintenance and upkeep of the building exterior. Ensures that the grounds are kept in “new” condition.
- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Innovates, implements and manages cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas
- of moderate scope.
- Production Engineer Labor Standards, modelling and simulations.
- Develop, implements and manage plans to support warehousing/logistics operations. Designs operations layouts.
- Improves production flow and presentation.
- Monitors, compiles and reports Key Performance Initiative (KPI).
- Leads team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity and efficiency of moderate scope.
- Leads analysis, development and implementation of new operations processes and technology.
- Champion Continuous Improvement Process initiatives across customer site.
- Ensure the transfer of best practices across site.
- Execution of Customer projects / strategic initiative(s).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
