Position Overview

The QC technician should have completed secondary school with more than two years experience in quality control/equivalent in the food related industry. The QC is responsible for maintaining the quality control of the production and production documentation. QC will also be responsible for reporting any deviations in their daily inspection. The QC technician will be reporting to the QA manager. In addition, QC will monitor and ensure food safety and quality in all products and processes.

Duration: Permanent, Full-time

Hours Of Operation : Sunday: 7:00am - 3:30pm; Monday-Thursday: 6:30am - 3:00pm

Holidays as Required

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct routine pre-op inspection using the approved checklist.
- Preparations of chemicals including weighing, packing, storing according to SOP.
- Perform CCP and QCP checks at regular intervals
- Maintain CCP and QCP documentation.
- Measure the pH and brix of syrup and anti-browning food preservative.
- Replenishment of chemicals where needed.

Ensure hygiene and sanitation practices conform to policies and regulations. Advice production supervisor of ingredient or product deficiencies.
- Assist new staff training as required.
- Conduct on-line inspection and finished product inspection for quality, weight and labels.
- Conduct raw material checks.
- Conduct internal audits in four facilities.
- Monitor compliance of food safety policies and SQF requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned based on the needs of the department.

Required skills and qualifications

Technical skills
- Bachelor of Science degree or diploma (food science or a related field)
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Experience in HACCP and related documentation would be an asset.
- Knowledge of SQF standards would be an asset.
- Good practical knowledge of GMP and Food Safety.

Personal skills
- Possesses excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to work independently as well as work effectively within a team.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Positive, can-do attitude, proactive, and excellent communication skills
- Detail oriented and has exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, internet.
